Blog 7: What am I thankful for...?

Most importantly my mom because she made sure that I grew up to be 5’9” 135 pounds, my art skills, my family, Dennis because he has always been by my side, I love him to death, my open-mindedness, my close friends ( I don’t have many), my education, all of the experiences I went through throughout my entire life, I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for that. I am grateful for my dad,  my cousin Kima because he taught me many things, my aunts Luly and Juana because they lent us a helping hand when we needed it the most. I am grateful for my art teacher Mr. Moran, God, clothes and a place to live, church. I am grateful for being here today, the people that God has put on my path. I am grateful for food stamps, I would have never made it this far without food stamps. I am grateful for my bed and planet Earth.

Draft 1

In order to be happier in relationships with the people you love, you need to finds ways to get to know each other better. Studies show that buying experiences instead of buying objects makes people much happier. Doing things together that keep you all focussed will make the experience much better. Quality time with loved ones isn't wanted but needed. We also need to keep in mind what our first priorities are. Family, friends and lovers should come before anything. As humans we tend to stress thing and blow them out of proportion, half of the problems we go through with our loved ones aren't as bad as they seem. With happier relationships the world would be a much better place.
When you buy an object that you desire, you believe that it will make you happy but truth is, it won't. Once you have it the thrill and excitement you thought it would bring you is not really there. Instead of buying your loved one a shirt or a car spend that money on experiences. By experiences I mean on a cruise, mountain climbing, horse back riding or even just a stay cation in the back yard. it would be more pleasurable and memorable for you both. Even if the vacation doesn't turn out as planned you will remember the experience and the little things in between. Keep this statement in mind for the next birthday.
Doing things together is also very important. If you buy your mom a plane ticket to the Bahamas for her to go alone' I guarantee you that she would like for you to accompany her.  Not only because she will be by herself but also because she would enjoy it more if she had someone to share the experiences with. Quality time is very important when it comes to relationships. You don't want to be in a relationship with someone that you barely see. You will get no physical comfort from them and the relationship will go nowhere. Quality time isn't simply just wanted but studies show that it is needed.
Flow is when a person is doing something and is totally focussed on that act. While in a relationship with someone it is very important that you keep each other in a state of "flow" It helps with relieving stress and allows you to be more focussed on each other and not on what is going on around you. It will also allow for you both to get to know each other better while leaving all of your outside problems behind.
